Woods Ferry Recreation Area
The place
Woods Ferry Recreation Area, in western Chester County, lies within a beautiful wooded floodplain surrounded by upland pine woods and maturing hardwood forests. Campers and day-users can choose from a variety of activities: picnicking, fishing, canoeing, or horseback riding. Its location on the Broad River makes fishing and boating easily accessible. The bridge on Park Road (S-12- 574) leading to Woods Ferry Recreation Area has been taken out of service by SCDOT due to a failed inspection and will remain closed until repairs have been completed. We will update when the bridge has been repaired. Access to Woods Ferry Horse Trail remains open at the Bucks Grave Road parking area. The day-use area of Woods Ferry is open free to the public. All campsites at Woods Ferry are available for reservation on recreation.gov . Horses are allowed in designated sites. Woods Ferry campsites will continue to cost $7 per night at a standard site and $14 per night at a group and double site. Woods Ferry Horse Trail map [PDF]
Booking
Recreation.gov default: most campsites can be booked six months prior to arrival date. Most campgrounds go on sale at 7am PT / 8am MT / 10am ET, but not always; check the facility Seasons and Fees tab. Some locations also offer shorter supplemental booking windows.
